O say, can you see these stars rubbing elbows with presidents?
No matter who is the Oval Office—Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are facing off in the 2024 U.S. presidential election—many celebrities from across movie, music, TV and sports have found themselves in the company of the sitting Commander-in-Chief over the years. Whether it's a special trip to the White House or merely crossing paths at a charity event, Hollywood icons like Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley have all had the opportunity for a little face time with POTUS in the past.
Take Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, who—along with the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs—scored a meet-and-greet with President Joe Biden in June after winning the 2024 Super Bowl. In fact, Biden even invited Kelce up to the presidential lectern to say a few words during the White House visit.
"I had no idea President Biden was going to ask me to come up and let me have my moment," the tight end later recounted of his meeting with the president. "I had no idea. He walks right up and the first thing he says is just to give me the floor."
Kelce jokingly added that he felt like he was being eyed by Secret Service members the entire time he was on stage.
"I felt tasers aimed at me when I was up there the whole time," he quipped, joking that security staffers already "weren't too happy" with him since he accidentally brought expired identification during his 2023 visit to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
As the NFL star noted, "I caught s--t for that."
But not all White House visits are fun and games. In 2018, Kim Kardashian paid a visit to then-President Trump to discuss criminal justice reform after he commuted the life sentence of Alice Johnson, who had been in prison since 1996 for a first-time drug offense.
The Kardashians star later said her decision to get involved in politics and meet with Trump didn't sit well with some people, explaining she "weighed the decision” of whether she should help “save a life, or to get maybe bad tweets about me or a bad news story for a few days."
"I guarantee you the people sitting behind bars do not care who the president is. They just want that relief. And so if I could have done that, I don't care," Kardashian said during a 2019 appearance on CNN's Van Jones Show. "They just want that relief. And so if I could have done that, I don't care."
