Miranda Lambert's husband of nearly five years, Brendan McLoughlin has a unique way of supporting the Grammy-winning singer.
While on "Tamron Hall" promoting her upcoming Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Lambert, 40, explained how two of her biggest fans have different ways of cheering on her career.
"My husband tells me the truth," she told Hall in Tuesday's episode. "He gives me harsh reality, and I love it."
She added, "Everybody needs somebody in their life like a truth-teller, and he's very New York about it."
Meanwhile, her mom – who has been cancer-free for a year – is "my #1 fan," Lambert said. Compared to McLoughlin, "My mom is more like a hype girl." Despite her mom and husband's different ways of showing their love, Lambert knows "they're so proud and they were part of every step of the way.”
Though he might be blunt, McLoughlin, 32, has also been effusive about his love for his wife. In an Instagram post celebrating Lambert's 40th birthday last November, he gushed about how he's "the lucky one, because 40 has never looked so good."
"I can’t tell you how thankful I am to stand beside you for yet another year around the sun," he wrote in the caption. "Don't change for anyone, you have touched so many lives, both human and animal. You bring smiles to every room you walk in. The world is (a) much better place with you in it."
How country star Miranda Lambert fell in love with NYC cop Brendan McLoughlin
Lambert and McLoughlin, who's a former New York City police officer, are about to celebrate five years of marriage this month. They met in the fall of 2018 when she and her country music group, Pistol Annies, performed on "Good Morning America."
In an October 2019 interview with The New York Times, Lambert divulged how, exactly, she fell in love with a New York cop.
"I met my husband doing press for the Pistol Annies record, this time last year," Lambert told the outlet. "Our record came out the day after Halloween, and we did 'Good Morning America.' My husband was doing security there for the show."
Something about Mcloughlin caught the attention of the other members of the musical trio, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley.
"My girlfriends, the Annies, saw him and knew I might be ready to hang out with someone," said Lambert. "They invited him to our show behind my back. They plucked him for me."
"My security guy Tom, he was in on it too," she continued. "He said to me, 'He’s here. And he’s pretty.'"
